“Rise of Our Flag” is an educational tool for high school readers and older.
The American Legion debuted its “Rise of Our Flag” graphic novel last summer to add to its portfolio of educational flag material. The graphic novel, perfect for junior high school readers and older, illustrates the journey of American’s symbol from its origins in the War of 1812 to the 21st century, where it has remained a beacon of hope following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
The 65-page “Rise of Our Flag” also features a guide to the U.S. Flag Code, illustration of Legionnaires conducting a flag retirement ceremony, and historic moments from the flag on the moon to the Olympics.
“Rise of Our Flag” is available for $4.99 individually or a box of 50 for $200. Orders can be placed online here or call Emblem Sales toll-free at (888) 453-4466.
The graphic novel was illustrated by U.S. Army Sgt. Austin Powell during his time in the American Legion-supported DoD SkillBridge program.
