American Legion youth program videos, America’s 250th birthday and more.
The American Legion recognizes February as Americanism Month – a time to reflect on the importance of upholding the Legion’s third pillar of respect for the U.S. flag, patriotism, and roles and responsibilities as American citizens.
Here are ways your post can support Americanism Month and beyond:
Americanism program videos. American Legion programs of Boys Nation, Oratorical Contest, Legion Baseball and Junior Shooting Sports engage high school students in civics, sportsmanship, marksmanship skills and government instruction while instilling patriotism. Videos for each individual program are available to view and share with Legion Family and community members, students and parents. Access the videos here. A combined video of all four programs is online here.
USA 250 Youth Programs poster. To celebrate America’s 250th birthday and help American Legion Family posts and units make connections with young people, educators and youth leaders, a poster has been designed that highlight some of the major programs The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary offer to build pride and understanding of the United States. Download the USA 250 Youth Programs poster.
Americanism program one-pagers. A one page printout about American Legion Boys Nation, Junior Shooting Sports Program, Oratorical Contest and Legion Baseball are available here under each program. American Legion posts can print these flyers and deliver to local schools to hang in classrooms or hand them out at youth sporting and community events.
