The annual workshop will discuss do’s and don’ts of using AI for Legion purposes, free email marketing tools for post newsletters, a successful department website redesign and more. 

The American Legion Media & Communications Division will host its annual Media Training Workshop at the 107th National Convention in Louisville, Ky., on Monday, Aug. 31. All American Legion Family members are welcomed to attend.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to noon

The schedule is as follows:

8:30 a.m.: Welcome remarks   

8:45 a.m.: How to design a website that meets the needs of current and potential members (presented by Timothy Engstrom, communications director for the Department of Minnesota)  

9:15 a.m.: Learn about free email marketing tools that allow you to create, send and manage newsletters, and fundraise (presented by Morris Sadicario, adjutant and historian of American Legion Post 501 in Madison, Wis.)     

10-10:15 a.m.: Break

10:15 a.m.: Don’ts of using AI for American Legion purposes (presented by Rebecca Shindel, web content editor, brand experience for The American Legion Marketing Division)   

11 a.m. Do’s of using AI for American Legion purposes (presented by Holly Lewis, Department of Ohio, chair of Media & Communications Commission)  

11:45 a.m.: See a prototype of the new American Legion Magazine redesign (presented by Henry Howard, director of Media & Communications Division)
