The annual report shares how posts support youth programs, veteran employment, community service and missions of the organization like suicide prevention.
The American Legion’s Consolidated Post Report (CPR) is an opportunity for posts to document every activity they fulfilled in a 12-month (June 1-May 31) reporting period – whether it’s holding a Be the One suicide prevention awareness event or training, making Buddy Checks, securing a veteran employment, providing funeral honors, sponsoring youth to attend a Legion program like Boys State, conducting fundraising efforts or more.
The report shows the value of membership as veterans at the post level are continuing their service to community, state and nation.
The recently compiled 2025-2026 CPR reveals the great work American Legion posts do at the local level. These, however, are not the final numbers for the entire American Legion. Only 7,920 posts submitted a CPR – a 68% response rate from the 11,592 total posts worldwide.

Buddy Checks and Be the One
- 345,193 veterans were contacted through Buddy Checks (Since The American Legion’s Buddy Check program launched in 2019, more than 2.1 million veterans have been reached by phone, text, email or in person to check on their well-being.)
- 4,339 posts participated in Buddy Checks
- 2,277 posts participated in the Be the One program
- 17,532 Legion Family and community members have participated in Be the One training
