Departments are to submit the names of members who will serve as assistance sergeant-at-arms during national convention in Louisville, Ky.
Each year, approximately 100 Legionnaires attending the National Convention of The American Legion act as assistant sergeants-at-arms during the three-day general session. The American Legion national commander desires that each department be represented among this group, if possible.
The national convention budget makes no provision for payment of any expense in connection with this assignment. Therefore, selection should be made from among those to be present at the 107th National Convention in Louisville, Ky. Those selected must attend an instructional meeting conducted by the national sergeant- at-arms. This meeting will be held at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 31. Instructions will be mailed prior to this date and will contain meeting room information.
If you have Legionnaires to recommend for this assignment, please submit their name and membership ID number via email to the national commander’s assistant at pjackson@legion.org by July 31. A letter of appointment from American Legion National Commander Dan Wiley will then be sent to each nominee using the address listed on their membership record.
