April is Children & Youth Month and during this month, American Legion Family members are encouraged to show their local communities the organization’s dedication to young people by supporting child health, education, family and more.
There are many ways Legion Family members can support Children & Youth Month. This includes providing needed school supplies for classrooms and students, paying off student lunch debts, conducting a clothing drive, inviting parents and children to the post for a meal, or hosting a walk.
According to the 2025 American Legion Consolidated Post Report, 817 posts participated in Children & Youth Month and over 3,600 posts conducted Children & Youth activities.

Temporary Financial Assistance (TFA) brochure shares how the grants help eligible military veterans and Legion members with minor children in the home who are facing a financial hardship. These one-time grants of up to $2,500 are designed to help meet the cost of shelter, food, utilities and health expenses so children have a stable environment during a time of hardship.
