Visit legiontown.org to share how your post, district or department is supporting the motto of The American Legion.

“Veterans Strengthening America” has been The American Legion’s motto since 2020, when the National Executive Committee adopted the three words to serve as a description of how Legionnaires, posts, districts and departments are strengthening the nation by serving their communities and states.

There is a Veterans Strengthening America category on the Legiontown site where American Legion members are encouraged to share in photos and a story how they support this motto. For example, Fred Brock American Legion Post 828 in San Antonio, Texas, helped provide new shoes to students and backpacks filled with needed school supplies. And Post 195 in Lugoff, S.C., supported the National Guard during an unexpected snowstorm by providing $700 in needed food.

“The American Legion exists to support the community, veterans and troops,” shared Post 195 Commander Ruppert Baird on Legiontown. “This is another effort continue that mission.”

Start sharing your individual, post, district or department Veterans Strengthening America story now. National staff visits Legiontown to find examples of these stories and others from the more than 40 categories to be used for expanded web treatments, American Legion Magazine articles, and other promotions.
