The training for members and non-members educates about the history and four pillars of The American Legion.
The American Legion’s online Baisc Training course is the official training program on the history and pillars of the organization for Legion officers, members, Legion College applicants and others who want to expand their knowledge of The American Legion.
Basic Training has been recently updated to reflect all programs and missions of The American Legion like the Be the One suicide prevention initiative and legislative priorities. The course covers five topics: History & Organization; Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation; National Security; Americanism; and Children & Youth. Each topic will present information through text, images and video. At the end of each topic area there is a quiz that will help gauge your understanding of the material. It will take about two hours to complete the exam but there is no time limit. You may return and access the course as many times as needed.
Following a Course Conclusion step in the training program, a 40-question exam is provided. The exam will take about 30 minutes to complete.
