
During Fall Meetings, donations came in for VCF, NEF and OCW.
Donations to American Legion programs were presented during the annual Fall Meetings in Indianapolis Oct. 6-7.
Veterans and Children Foundation. American Legion Auxiliary National President presented a $10,000 check to National Commander Paul E. Dillard for the Legion’s Veterans and Children Foundation (V&CF). An additional $3,000 was donated by National Executive Committee members, leadership and departments. V&CF is Dillard’s fundraising program for his year as national commander.
The American Legion Veterans & Children’s Foundation delivers needed aid for military and veterans with minor children in the home who face unexpected financial hardships that threaten the stability of their homes. One-time Temporary Financial Assistance grants are used to cover housing, utilities, food and other basic needs for families with minor children at home. It also trains the organization’s accredited service officers who at any one time are continuously working more than 750,000 benefits claims for disabled veterans and their families, free of charge.
National Emergency Fund. $250 was donated to support this program. American Legion posts, Legion members and SAL members who have been impacted by a declared natural disaster are eligible for grants from The American Legion’s National Emergency Fund.
Operation Comfort Warriors. $630 was donated to support this program. American Legion Operation Comfort Warriors provides comfort items and rehabilitation equipment for wounded, injured or ill military personnel. All donations to this fund go directly towards the purchase of these comfort items.
