Booth will feature multiple gaming setups, augmented reality headsets, classic arcade games and more; conference takes place Jan. 8-10 in Colorado Springs.
The ALG Veterans & Video Games Foundation will take over The American Legion's booth at the 18th annual Student Veterans of America (SVA) National Conference in Colorado this weekend.
The conference, taking place Jan. 8-10 at The Broadmoor Resort and Convention Center in Colorado Springs, will offer an interactive gaming experience and membership opportunities at one of the largest gatherings of student veterans in the world.
“We are super excited to be at SVA this year," said Jared Morgan, CEO of the ALG Foundation. "This is the perfect opportunity for ALG to showcase what we can do for student veterans and The American Legion.”
ALG will host a 10-by-20-foot booth on the expo floor for the duration of the conference and will feature two race car simulator setups, two classic arcade machines, a PlayStation 5 with a variety of games, two Meta Quest 3 augmented reality headsets and several handheld gaming devices. The space is designed to encourage interaction, offering attendees a chance to relax, compete, and connect with fellow veterans through gaming.
In addition to gameplay, the ALG team will be on site to support American Legion membership efforts. Team members will be available to field new membership applications and speak with attendees about ways to get involved. To encourage participation, ALG will host a giveaway centered on new member sign-ups and recruitment.
“Gaming appeals to all ages, but it is especially popular with young veterans,” said Dan K. Wiley, national commander of The American Legion. “The American Legion Gaming booth is yet another opportunity for veterans to connect in a fun way, relieve some stress and enjoy the company of those who have served our nation. During my visits to military bases, I have seen how popular gaming is among the active-duty troops. The American Legion is excited about the momentum and growth that gaming represents throughout our organization.”
Each individual who joins The American Legion through ALG during the conference will receive an entry into a giveaway for a Nintendo Switch 2. Current members who recruit a new member will also receive an entry. In cases where a recruiter is involved, both the recruiter and the new member will be eligible for a $50 gift card. New members who join without a recruiter will still qualify for the Nintendo Switch 2 giveaway, though gift cards are reserved for recruiter pairings.
"Both SVA and The American Legion are dedicated to enhancing career opportunities for veterans across the country while building community through individual growth," said Morgan. "This is a natural partnership. We all want the same thing: to see every veteran succeed.”
Members of the American Legion Gaming team will be present throughout the conference to engage with attendees, answer questions, and invite visitors to take part in the gaming experience. Student veterans, supporters, and partners are invited to visit the booth, pick up a controller, and discover how gaming can support connection, stress relief, and community building.
The Student Veterans of America National Conference (NatCon) brings together student veterans from more than 1,600 campuses across the United States and abroad. The event also welcomes higher education professionals, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and corporate partners focused on supporting veterans and military-affiliated students. NatCon serves as a key point in the academic year for networking, professional development, and collaboration within the veteran community.
With thousands of attendees expected, the conference provides an ideal setting for shared experiences and meaningful conversations. American Legion Gaming invites conference participants to visit the booth, meet the team, and experience how gaming continues to bring veterans together across generations and backgrounds.
