Roger Moreau of Louisiana took the initiative to refurbish his old high school flagpole instead of it being torn down and replaced with something smaller.
Roger Moreau heard that the rusted flagpole outside of his old high school, which had been converted into an antique mall, was in consideration of being removed and replaced with a shorter aluminum pole. Instead of the flagpole being torn down and replaced with something smaller, “I offered the owners to refurbish the pole as my local American Legion project at no cost to the owners,” said Moreau, adjutant of American Legion Post 126 in Bunkie, La.
The pole was painted, along with the installment of a solar light, new finial ball and eagle, and rope with wire center.
“It was an honor to bring my old 90-year-old high school flagpole back to glory,” Moreau said.
