More than 200 amateur hams contact National Headquarters for birthday communications.
When the dust settled just after 1600 ET on March 12, the K9TAL logbooks showed that just over 200 amateur radio operators had contacted National Headquarters in Indianapolis via HF, VHF repeaters and IRLP for the one-day Legion Birthday Special Event conducted by The American Legion Amateur Radio Club - quite good.
Hats off to Bill, KIØCW, and Everett, WA3DVO, for taking the reins from the Headquarters gang in Indy and relaying check-ins during operations. Their work allowed callers from all points in the country the chance to hear and be heard as part of the special event.
