Announcements were made regarding the following subjects:
• Veterans Day Special Event Station reminder for certificate and QSL card
• TALARC website; encouragement to visit
• Photos and videos request for posting on TALARC website
Discussion on the net was offered in regard to the following:
• Those who checked in were asked about attempts to reach K9TAL for the Veterans Day Special Event, or any comments they had about the SE's and/or monthly net operations.
• Jude, KD2JEC, reported that he had visited Mark, W2UIS, during a Veterans Day Special Event that Mark conducted from the Wallkill, N.Y., public library and indicated there was interest by young people in the operations that, it appears, will have Mark back at the library on a more regular basis to "show and tell" about the Legion and amateur radio. Jude noted that the timeframe for the K9TAL Vets Day SE creates something of a conflict for those Legionnaires who participate in local Vets Day ceremonies, since many of these ceremonies take place at the "eleventh hour" in commemoration of the actual signing of the armistice ending WWI. He suggested we consider beginning later in the day, going later into the evening. Current schedule is 0900-1630 ET.
• Larry, KD6SWL, who participated in Veterans Day activities that included a parade, also asked consideration for a change in scheduled times and, possibly, a shift to the 40 Meter band from the 20 Meter band that TALARC has historically used. Larry also invited everyone on the net to check in with the CALARS net each Sunday at 1330 Pacific time on the Family Motor Coach Association EchoLink node.
• Ron, N2VEO, noted that on the second Saturday of December he and other members of his post are participating in the Wreaths Across America project, making it probable that he couldn't participate in the nets on that day. He asked if any others on the net might be facing a similar problem. None indicated so.
• Everett, WA3DVO, offered a short report on their post radio team's [N3TAL] third year of participation in JOTA, the BSA/Amateur Radio Jamboree on The Air, conducted annually in October. Everett noted the team operated this year from the Southern Maryland District [American Legion] Youth Camp.
The net closed at 1300 ET [1700Z].
