Item: After-Action Report – Legion Birthday Special Event, March 10
The Special Event Station that commemorated the Legion’s 99th birthday went very well, thanks in large part to those individuals, and a few TALARC club stations, who provided relay assistance on 20m and 40m.
A measure of appreciation goes to Everett, WA3DVO, and members of his Glen Arden, Md., Legion Post 275 Amateur Radio Team, N3TAL, for their Net Control Station work on 20 meters; as well as to Bill, KIØCW, for his Net Control Station work on the 20-meter band from South Dakota. A right-hand salute of respect and admiration goes to all who assisted with this year’s efforts.
As has been customary, the majority of contacts came via HF, where 265 log entries were made; 107 on 20m; and 158 on 40m. Other modes of communication via VHF and UHF, which included simplex, IRLP and EchoLink, numbered 88. Bottom line: 353 QSOs; just under the 2017 figure of 360.
To all who were part of the birthday event, we extend our thanks for your participation.
For those who QSOd, don't forget that you have a QSL card and a personalized Special Event Certificate coming that will be sent upon receipt, from you, of a 9-by-12 inch self-addressed stamped envelope. Send the S.A.S.E., along with your call sign, to:

Item: HamVention 2018 – One more reminder
If you’re planning to be at HamVention this year, which is set for May 18, 19 and 20, please stop by the TALARC booth at the Greene County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Xenia, Ohio, and say “Hello” to the Headquarters staff and volunteers who will be on hand for the event. If you can take time to help at the booth, email National Headquarters at k9tal@legion.org and let us know your availability.

Item: Wednesday Weekly 80m net frequency change
Effective Wednesday, April 4, the weekly 80m net will QSY from its previous operating frequency of 3.815 MHz to 3.825 MHz. Don, KA5DON, and his crew at Mississippi Post 1992’s K5TAL radio club plan to expand operations in May when they open a 40m net that will operate simultaneously with the 80m net. For the net start time and the designated 40m frequency, check the Monthly Net Schedule on the TALARC website at www.legion.org/hamradio.
