Item: The American Legion’s Centennial celebration begins in 2018
The American Legion, chartered by Congress in 1919, is planning an historic Centennial celebration. The yearlong celebration, kicking off in 2018, is focused on commemorating its first century of service while continuing its legacy into the future.
The 99th National Convention in Reno, Nev., this past August saw the introduction of the latest publication produced by National Headquarters to help posts and departments get ready for the Legion’s upcoming Centennial. It is the 100th Anniversary Media Toolkit and it is available now. The toolkit has two main functions: to assist in the planning, execution and after-actions of Centennial events, and to walk posts (and departments) through taking stock of where they have been and where they are going, to set themselves up for the next 100 years of service.
More features will be added to the publication and more information will be generated as the Centennial kickoff at the 2018 Minneapolis National Convention draws closer. The 100th Anniversary Media Toolkit is available to download free at https://centennial.legion.org/mediakits.
