Announcements were read that included:
1) American Legion National Commander Oxford’s visit to Mississippi Post 1992, K5TAL, and his participation in the Wednesday weekly 80m net. Check-ins were encouraged to tune in to talk with the Commander on February 26.
2) Reminder of the Legion Birthday special event operations that are set for Saturday, March 14.
3) TALARC monthly newsletter.
**** Discussion was had by all on the net. Joel, K3SUN, noted his activities with local emergency management ops that support a local hospital and with the South Central [PA] Task Force that supports anti-terrorism activities. **** Larry, W3XF, noted that his post was hosting a vets clinic on March 19 at Carroll Community College in Maryland, with plans for job and health screenings, and dissemination of information on veterans benefits. Reflecting on the same activity from last year, the post expects a great turnout this year. **** Kenny, KB3IIE, offered an update on their TALARC club’s work [N3TAL] to set up a permanent “shack” within their post, 275. Kenny also indicated the folks at N3TAL are looking at the possibility of serving as host for a TALARC 40 meter net. He also noted that Post 275/N3TAL will host a special event in July to commemorate the dedication of the Bladensburg Peace Cross, which was erected almost 100 years ago to commemorate the town’s WWI veterans who lost their lives in battle. **** Rich, K7RBC, reported that his post was well into the planning and preparation for hosting this year’s Washington Department [State] Convention. **** Ed, K8EAF, spoke briefly on the merits of the WinLink system that he and others in his area use for ARES practice and operations.
The TALARC/K9TAL EchoLink Net for February closed at 1255 ET [1755Z].
