The K5TAL net on 80 meters was opened at 7 pm (0000z) on 3.862 MHz and had 13 check-ins. Conditions were good but some irritating static. Typical Wednesday evening.

Announcements: Discussion of recent Hurricane Laura lessons learned. Hugh KD5JII discussed generator preparation and added that a couple of caps full of “Sea Foam” really helps motors that have been sitting idle for a long time. “Sea Foam” is available at most auto parts stores.

Thursdays at 7 pm CST, K5TAL hosts an all-digital net via a service called Quadnet Array (www.openquad.net). This service allows any form of digital voice to be routed so DMR users can hear D-Star and C4FM Fusion, D-Star can hear everyone, as can C4FM users. It also allows DV Dongle users to communicate likewise. The net is listed on the www.openquad.net website. You can listen to the HF 80 meter by going to www.n4dkd.com and enter the frequency and LSB. If you have an Apple device, there is a box to the right to enable audio for IOS.
