Department of Labor hopes to help approximately 17,000 homeless veterans find successful civilian careers.
The Department of Labor (DoL) has announced it is awarding 122 grants totaling more than $28 million to provide approximately 17,000 veterans who are homeless or at risk of being homeless with job training to help them succeed in civilian careers. The grants are being awarded under DoL's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program.
The grants are being distributed in conjunction with DoL's Veterans Workforce Investment Program. State and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies and non-profit organizations will be given the funding and will receive it for a second and third year, as long as they can demonstrate that their first-year funding was effective and adequately serving their geographic areas and population.
