The organization planning the memorial has received approval, now focuses on fundraising for the project.

The organization developing a memorial honoring veterans of Operation Desert Storm is holding a fundraiser with 100 percent of proceeds going to the project.

Three different T-shirts, all commemorating the 24th anniversary of the Persian Gulf War, are available for $20 each plus shipping.

Orders must be placed by March 15; the shirts will begin shipping March 20. Purchase a shirt here.

The memorial cleared a major hurdle last December when President Obama authorized the memorial to proceed. Now, National Desert Storm War Memorial CEO and President Scott Stump is looking to raise funds for the project. He expects to break ground next year in Washington.

The American Legion passed a resolution supporting the proposed Desert Shield and Desert Storm veterans memorial at the 95th National Convention in Houston. Read an interview with Stump, which appears in the March 2015 issue of The American Legion Magazine, here.
