Planning guide available to assist posts in their community remembrances.

The American Legion vows to never forget the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. As the 14th anniversary of that day approaches, Legion posts from coast to coast are planning remembrance events in their communities.

American Legion posts will host commemorative memorial services that will feature remarks by Legionnaires, local dignitaries, chaplains and others. Oftentimes, a ceremonial wreath will be laid, bells will be rung and/or a moment of silence will be held to honor the victims.

For more information and resources, please consult the planning guide, “A Day to Remember.”

This year, American Legion Family members and others are encouraged to share their photos, thoughts and memories on social media using the hashtags #PatriotDay or #DayOfServiceAndRemembrance on The American Legion Facebook page and by sharing on Twitter.
