U.S. Navy Blue Angels Pilot Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss was killed as he crashed an F/A-18 aircraft Thursday in Smyrna, Tenn.

American Legion National Commander Dale Barnett issued a statement following a plane crash on Thursday, which resulted in the death of an aerobatics aviator.

U.S. Navy Blue Angels Pilot Marine Capt. Jeff Kuss was killed when his F/A-18 aircraft crashed during an “afternoon practice” at the airport in Smyrna, Tenn., according to a statement released from the Naval Air Forces.

“The American Legion is honored by the dedication of our Navy’s Blue Angels, and it is with a heavy heart that we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the pilot who lost his life yesterday,” Barnett expressed.
