The garrison cap belongs to a Pfc. Santillo.

While rummaging through a box dated August 1945 that belonged to her parents, Past American Legion Auxiliary Chaplain Bird Derrick discovered her late father's World War II dress greens and several military caps, including one that did not belong to him. Now, Derrick hopes to reunite the garrison cap to its owner or a family member.

The name written inside the cap is:

Pfc. Santillo 42117987

Co B. 85th Mt. Inf

APO 345

Derrick believes that her father and Santillo may have served together, either at Camp Hale in Colorado or in Italy where her father received the Bronze Star with a "V" Device for heroism or valor in combat.

Anyone with information about the cap can contact Derrick by email at gmabird1@yahoo.com or call 208 520-4710.
