Communities from California to New York maintain memorials to the 1941 Pearl Harbor attacks.

Communities from California to New York maintain memorials to the 1941 Pearl Harbor attacks. Here are just a few, taken from The American Legion’s national memorial database.

Remember Pearl Harbor, Oceanside, Calif.: Installed by a local chapter of Pearl Harbor Survivors, “the monument honors members of San Diego North County Chapter 31 …. The stone is engraved on both sides and includes the names of the 153 local members.”

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Plaque, Patchogue, N.Y.: Installed at local VFW Post 2913, and dedicated to two men who died at Pearl Harbor; Post 2913 is named in their honor.

Pearl Harbor Memorial Expressway, Tulsa, Okla.: “The Pearl Harbor Memorial Expressway consists of the portion of U.S. Highway 169 from Memorial Drive to the Tulsa County line. The Oklahoma House of Representatives unanimously approved a resolution designating the Pearl Harbor Memorial Expressway on March 8, 2001.” USS Oklahoma was one of the ships destroyed, and “four Tulsans who were survivors of the Pearl Harbor attack were present in the House chamber when the resolution was adopted, representing all servicemembers and civilians who were present during the attack …. These men were all members of the Last Man Club, a group of survivors in Tulsa. It was through their efforts that Highway 169 was designated a memorial to the Pearl Harbor attack.”

Pittsford Pearl Harbor 50th Anniversary Memorial, Pittsford, N.Y.: “Flagpole fronted with a small bronze plaque.”

Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge, Seaside, Ore.: “Large brass plaque at foot of bridge and two 36" diameter granite plaques at the center of each side of the bridge.”
