Veterans job fair planned for upstate New York

Rochester will host the Hiring Our Heroes event, set for Thursday, Sept. 22, for veterans, servicemembers and their spouses.

 

The American Legion, in conjunction with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the New York State Department of Labor and others, will host a Hiring Our Heroes job fair in Rochester, N.Y., on Sept. 22.

The event will be held at the National Guard Armory, 76 Patriot Way in Rochester.

An employment workshop will kick off the event from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., when job seekers will be able to meet with a team of hiring experts.

The Hiring Our Heroes employment workshop focuses on résumé writing, tips for navigating hiring fairs and interviewing techniques.

After the workshop, a job fair will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and will feature prospective employers seeking to hire veterans, servicemembers and their spouses.

Current military personnel, veterans and their families are welcome to attend. Attendees should come with their résumés in hand, and be prepared to network or even interview on the spot.

No registration is necessary; however, registering for the event allows job seekers to upload their résumés to be viewed by employers ahead of time.
