The American Legion platform is a place for Legion Family members to share the great work their post, district or department is doing to support veterans, youth and community members.
American Legion Family members nationwide have a story to tell. It may be about their military service or how they support veterans; the number of Buddy Checks conducted and the outcome; how a veteran’s life was saved through Be the One; a post activity that benefited the community; a membership success story; and more. These stories are all shared on Legiontown.org.
The American Legion encourages members to share their stories and photos of the good they do throughout the year on Legiontown. Stories are shared under the available 40 categories. These categories include Be the One to support veteran suicide prevention, USA 250 Challenge to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, Why I Chose the Army/Navy/Marines for the service branches’ 250th birthdays, Buddy Checks, Legion Baseball, Honor & Remembrance, Veterans Helping Veterans, Why I Love My Post and more.

Why do I need to give you my email address? An editor from the National American Legion Media & Communications Division may want to contact you for more information about the story, or consider it for coverage in national media.
Why isn’t it my story automatically posted after submitting it? Each story is reviewed by an editor before being published to the platform.
What’s the benefit to me or my post of submitting a story? Besides your story being seen by other Legion Family members and visitors to the site, Media & Communication Division editors review the material and consider each item for possible coverage or placement in national media, including legion.org and/or the Dispatch e-newsletter, and on social media channels.
