If it were a city, The American Legion’s weekly Online Update e-newsletter would be the 11th largest metro area in the United States.
Recently, the newsletter surged past the 1 million subscriber mark to 1,018,701, which is larger than populations of U.S. cities such as San Francisco, Denver, Washington, D.C., and Boston. The Online Update was launched in March 2008 with fewer than 90,000 subscribers at the time.

“I’ve been a longtime subscriber to the Online Update,” said Walter Ivie, chairman of the Media and Communications Commission which oversees the Legion’s e-newsletter program. “It’s a great way for Legion Family members, military supporters and other patriots to access relevant information in an easy-to-navigate format.”
