The Navy Band, sea shanties and Taylor Swift

By The American Legion

In the 40th episode of The American Legion’s Tango Alpha Lima podcast, the hosts address the sea shanties, an ill-advised bender by soldiers and cheating in the Air Force Academy.

American Legion Tango Alpha Lima podcast co-hosts Mark Seavey, Jeff Daly and Ashley Gorbulja-Maldonado share their takes on the Navy Band turning Taylor Swift songs into sea shanties in this week’s episode.

“I’m never, never, never going to be able to unhear that,” Daly quips.

As spot-on as he is in his assessment, it’s nothing compared to the opinions on Twitter about the sea shanties. That may only be topped by the Navy Band’s response on Twitter. Seavey calls it a “level of self-awareness that I never expected from the military.”

Download and listen to the 40th episode of Tango Alpha Lima for everything you wanted to know about Taylor Swift sea shanties and other highlights including:

• Sticking with the musical theme, preacher Jeff Daly and the Resolutions sing the praises of how you can carve out the future for The American Legion as part of its grassroots approach.

• The story behind why 11 soldiers who were out in the field are now hospitalized. Hint: it’s related to an ill-advised bender.

• Why the Air Force Academy suspended around 250 cadets.
