First American Legion event with Great Clips raises more than $500 for veterans, military members and their families.
The American Legion's first Buzz Cut Challenge event - where Great Clips stylists provide buzz cuts to attendees willing to let their hair hit the floor for a suggested donation of $10 to support veterans, military members and their families - was held Nov. 2 at Post 435 in Richfield, Minn.
According to Jim Munson, a past post commander and the event's organizer, "I thought it went well. We were happy about it." The post provided drinks for the event and the Sons of The American Legion squadron provided cake, cookies and apples. Around 39 people attended, including six women - one of whom got a buzz cut. A total of $520 was raised.
Although the attendance was largely Legion family members, Munson said the publicity the post - and the cause - got out of it was "absolutely 100 percent excellent," from TV appearances before and after the event to the local Minneapolis Star Tribune.
