Training will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Phoenix Convention Center.

Training for incoming district commanders will be held during The American Legion’s 102nd national convention in Phoenix on Monday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. to noon. The training will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center, North Building, Exhibition Hall 6.

Agenda with presenters is as follows:

9 a.m. Leading candidate for national commander remarks – Paul Dillard of Texas

9:30 a.m. How to be a successful district commander – James Talaska of Illinois

10 a.m. Post analysis – Mark Shreve, Department of Georgia commander

10:30 a.m. Membership engagement plan at district and post level – John W. “Jay” Bowen of Colorado, Membership & Post Activities Committee chairman

11 a.m. District revitalization – Mark Shreve
