American Legion efforts spanned the globe in the fourth month of 2021.

Approximately 17,000 endangered Afghani translators who helped U.S. forces in the Global War on Terror climbed to the highest priority of The American Legion in April. National Commander James W. “Bill” Oxford implored the White House to expedite the visa process to bring them to the United States and out of the Taliban’s crosshairs as U.S. troops enter their withdrawal from the combat theater.

Like every month in The American Legion, April was filled with measurable results in communities, states and the nation – from accredited service officers in Oklahoma who extended hours this year to help more disabled veterans with their VA claims to Child Welfare Foundation grants for non-profit organizations that assist children facing struggles beyond their control. Bicycles were delivered on Indian reservations, more than 2,000 registered for the second 100 Miles for Hope challenge, and NBC reported historically high live-racing viewership of The American Legion-sponsored 48 car on the streets of St. Petersburg on April 25.
