Departments of Maine, District of Columbia and Mexico earn reimbursement for computer equipment purchases.
The American Legion’s Big Twelve Competition recognizes departments that meet or exceed their pledged membership goal percentage by the March 90% target date. The department in each category that has pledged the highest percentage and meets this goal receives the award. The percentage does not include members gained through DMS.
The winner in each category will be reimbursed for computer equipment purchases of up to $2,000. Runners-up in each category will be reimbursed for computer equipment purchases of up to $1,000.
Department winners:
Category V: Departments of 10,000 to 24,999 members – Maine
Category VI: Departments of 9,999 or fewer members – District of Columbia
There were no department winners in Categories I (85,000 or more members), II (65,000 to 84,999 members), III (40,000 to 64,999 members) or IV (25,000 to 39,999 members).
Runners-up:
Category IV: Departments of 9,999 or fewer members – Mexico
District of Columbia won the Big Twelve Competition for Category VI “with the help of each post,” said Department Adjutant George Roundtree. This year the department achieved 91% membership by the target date. “We asked the posts to get as many members as possible to renew online which would be even faster and that happened and that was a tremendous help in this department meeting our goal of 90%,” Roundtree said. It was an “outstanding effort” from all posts.
