Testifying in support of legislation yet to pass, Legion remembers the greatest legislation, the GI Bill in milestone month.

The American Legion was at work in Washington and across the Atlantic Ocean in June, fighting for resolution-backed legislation to assist transitioning military personnel, veterans and their families and honoring heroes of World War II in Normandy.

June 2024 was a big month of milestones for The American Legion, from international ceremonies to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day liberation of World War II in France to the 80th anniversary of the GI Bill’s passage in Washington, D.C.

National Headquarters also distributed scholarships, recognition certificates and information about U.S. Flag Code in June as posts nationwide celebrated Flag Day and raised awareness about the Legion’s Be the One mission to prevent veteran suicide.
