Power problem nearly repaired
A broken power line knocked out The American Legion national website, e-mail service, phones and other utilities for two days this week. Services were expected to be fully restored by Friday evening.
The outage occurred late Wednesday night. Electricians and Legion staff worked around the clock to locate the broken line and replace it. E-mail was restored Thursday afternoon. The national website was back up Thursday evening. Lights, heat and other electrical utilities were still being repaired Friday.
The problem forced a one-day delay in the delivery of this week's American Legion Online Update.
The outage also affected some communications at the Legion's Emblem Sales facility and its Washington, D.C., offices.
All services are on schedule to be fully restored before Monday.
