Ceremony ushers in new era for Legion-funded campus icon.

American Legion National Vice Commander Cory Bates is among the dignitaries set to speak at an April 7 ceremony to rededicate Louisiana State University’s Memorial Tower on the Baton Rouge, La., campus.

The tower, which was originally funded by American Legion posts throughout Louisiana, has undergone a nearly $15 million renovation over the last three years.

The ceremony includes an F-15 flyover, a video titled “LSU in Uniform: The Long Purple Line,” and re-enactors portraying figures from the university’s long and storied military past. The rededication also officially opens the William A. Brookshire LSU Military Museum wings flanking the 175-foot bell tower, with modernized exhibit displays, video panels, newly curated artifacts and more.

Those who wish to learn more about seating at the ceremony or the museum, which is open to the public, can email Cadets of the Ole War Skule at cadets@lsu.edu or call 1-866-SALUTES (8837). More information is also available at http://olewarskule.lsu.edu/ on the web.
