Here are some questions and answers about a new membership perk, delivered via email, and an exciting change for an Online Update newsletter.

This week, The American Legion launches a new initiative to pass along a weekly display of gratitude to its members.

Each week American Legion members will receive a “Thank you Thursday” email that will deliver exclusive offers, great deals and even some free stuff as a way of saying thank you for your membership.

With the new email program slated for Thursdays, the American Legion Online Update (ALOU) will shift to delivery on Friday, starting with the April 28 newsletter.

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about the change:

Question: How do I receive the “Thank You Thursday” offers?

Answer: Subscribe now by going to this page to sign up to start receiving your exclusive offers and discounts every Thursday. Please note: If you were previously signed up for Member Discount Benefits you are already subscribed to Thank You Thursday

Question: What’s the catch? How much do these Thank You Thursday thingies cost?

Answer: There is no cost to you. They are intended to be a membership perk, our way of saying “thanks” every week for your continued membership.

Question: Does Thank You Thursday replace the American Legion Online Update?

Answer: No, but ALOU is moving to Fridays. Many recipients will receive both Thank You Thursday and the Friday Online Update, and therefore we didn’t want to inundate your inbox on Thursdays.

Question: What else is changing with ALOU?

Answer: Based on the popularity of the “top 5” news items in each Online Update Monday Briefing, Friday’s Online Update will include a “top 5” stories from the past week that you may have missed. The top 5 story will be included in each Friday edition and will include a recap and link to each story.
