Operation Comfort Warriors benefits from recent American Legion Charities Golf Classic title sponsored by USAA.

The annual American Legion Charities Golf Classic, which this year benefitted the Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors program, raised nearly $26,000 on June 11. The outing, which took place at the Country Club of Indianapolis, featured American Legion staff, volunteers and vendors.

USAA, the event’s title sponsor, donated $10,000 to the event. Money raised from the outing benefit Operation Comfort Warriors, a program dedicated to meeting the needs of wounded, injured or ill military personnel by providing them with comfort items not usually supplied by the government. OCW ensures that patients at U.S. military hospitals and warrior transition units are given items like sweat suits, DVDs, puzzles, electronic devices, books, calling cards and more. OCW also provides larger items such as ping pong tables, entertainment centers, computers, kayaks and other recreational goods for use by wounded warriors in common areas.
