The first Operation Comfort Warriors distribution of the year provides patients at West Texas Medical Health System with rehabilitative equipment, as well as items for women's health.

The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors (OCW) program kicked off the new year with gifts valued at $6,000 to the West Texas Medical Health System in Big Spring, Texas.

Joe Schaefer, the Department of Texas Veterans and Rehabilitation Commission vice chairman and a county service officer, led the Legion delegation, which included members of Post 506 in Big Spring. The Legion donation on Jan. 14 included rehabilitation equipment, such as three bicycles, musical instruments and gardening equipment.

The donation, part of the Legion’s System Worth Saving site visit to west Texas, also included a Samsung television for the lobby area and women’s health items.

One hundred percent of donations to OCW go toward rehabilitation, comfort and other such items for wounded servicemembers.
