American Legion helps feed and provide gifts to more than 40 wounded warriors recovering at Walter Reed Medical .
For the past 13 years, The American Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors program has sponsored an Aleethia Foundation dinner each quarter for wounded warriors recovering at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Last Friday evening, more than 40 wounded servicemembers and their families enjoyed a dinner at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C., and received several OCW donation items.
OCW donations included a $25 Amazon gift card to every wounded warrior in attendance and door prizes of Samsung Galaxy tablets, exercise resistance bands and hand dumbbells.
The Aleethia Foundation started the dinners in 2003 as a way to honor and reward wounded warriors in recovery. The foundation’s mission is to "support newly injured servicemembers with short-term therapeutic recreation, small financial grants, family emergency aid, assistive technology items, home improvements to assist with an injured service member’s mobility and other unmet needs."
One hundred percent of donations to OCW go toward supporting wounded veterans with their rehabilitation. Learn more at www.legion.org/ocw.
