Registration is now live for the 2025 American Legion Legacy Run, which again will raise funds for The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF). Register here.
The 2025 Legacy Run will depart American Legion Post 8 in South Boston, Va., on Aug. 17 and arrive on Aug. 21 just outside of Tampa, Fla. – the site of the 2025 American Legion National Convention. Over the course of approximately 1,100 miles, the ride will also travel through North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Registration will close on Aug. 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Stops along the route will include various American Legion posts, as well at the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial in Wilmington, N.C.; Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson in South Carolina; the USS Yorktown at the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum in Mount Pleasant, S.C.; the Jacksonville, Fla., POW/MIA Memorial Park; Harley-Davidson of Ocala, Fla.; and Harley-Davidson of Wesley Chapel, Fla.
All riders must check in at Post 8 on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Check-in will ensure participants receive their check-in packet. A mandatory all-riders meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. that day and will cover day-to-day riding and safety points.
Unless otherwise notified, participants are responsible for booking and paying for their own lodging at each overnight stop. A nightly list of available hotels can be found here. Riders are expected to start each day with a full gas tank at their own expense.
Those who wish to register to support the Legacy Run remotely will receive a full check-in packet by mail, identical to the packet riders receive upon check-in. This packet will be sent after the national convention.
Through VCF funding, the Legion’s Temporary Financial Assistance grants feed and house children of military personnel and veterans facing urgent, unexpected hardships. These grants prevent eviction, keep the power on and fulfill basic needs to hold a family together through difficult times.
The VCF also covers training and accreditation costs for American Legion claims experts who provide free representation for veterans and families applying for disability benefits, survivor assistance, GI Bill opportunities and more.
In 2024, the Legacy Run raised approximately $930,000, including $155,000 from the Department of Maryland’s Gold Star Legacy Run and $114,000 from the Virginia Legacy Run.
As more information about the 2025 Legacy Run becomes available, it will be shared here.
Those who plan on participating in the Legacy Run and ride a Harley-Davidson are encouraged to sign up for the 2025 Let’s Ride Challenge™ – Ride for Heroes as soon as possible. As a statement of gratitude, Harley-Davidson is donating $1 million among nine veteran riding groups – including the American Legion Riders – and is asking riders to log their miles with authorized Harley-Davidson® dealerships. The more miles logged by Legion Riders and their supporters, the larger the donation.
