Neary 240 Legion Riders have registered for this year’s ride, which leaves Lincoln, Neb., on Aug. 23 and will arrive in Fort Knox, Ky., Aug. 27 – raising funds for the Veterans & Children Foundation.

With less than six weeks to go before kickstands up, the 2026 American Legion Legacy Run already has nearly 240 registered participants for the fundraising ride. Register online here by 11:59 p.m. ET on Aug. 1.

On Aug. 23, hundreds of American Legion Family members will depart Towers’ Frontier Harley-Davidson in Lincoln, Neb., for the start of the 20th Legacy Run. Over the course of the next five days, they will travel through four more states and 1,000 miles before finishing up at the General George Patton Museum of Leadership in Fort Knox, Ky.

Highlights of this year’s ride include visits to the Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum, the Gold Star Hall at Iowa State University and the General George Patton Museum of Leadership; a stop at the Meskwaki Indian Nation for a tribal dance; a tour of the Illinois Veterans Home and multiple stops at American Legion posts. Prior to, and along the way, they have one mission: to raise funds to assist both veterans and children through The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF).

Through VCF funding, the Legion’s Temporary Financial Assistance grants feed and house children of military personnel and veterans facing urgent, unexpected hardships. These grants prevent eviction, keep the power on and fulfill basic needs to hold a family together through difficult times.

The VCF also covers training and accreditation costs for American Legion claims experts who provide free representation for veterans and families applying for disability benefits, survivor assistance, GI Bill opportunities and more.
