2026 Legacy Run registration now open

Ride will depart Lincoln, Neb., on Aug. 23 and finish up at Fort Knox, raising funds for the Veterans & Children Foundation along the way.

Online registration for the 2026 American Legion Legacy Run now is open. Register here, where you can get additional information about this year’s ride, including a new structured peer-to-peer fundraising platform. Registration will close on Aug. 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

The 2026 Legacy Run will leave Lincoln, Neb., on Aug. 23 and travel approximately 1,000 miles through Iowa, Missouri and Indiana before finishing Aug. 27 at the General George Patton Museum of Leadership in Fort Knox, Ky., near the site of the 2026 National Convention in Louisville.

The route will include stops at American Legion posts, museums and memorials; participants up to and during the ride again will raise funds for The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF). The 2025 Legacy Run raised more than $986,000 for the VCF.

All Riders must check in at Towers' Frontier Harley-Davidson in Lincoln on Aug. 22 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Check-in is required to receive your rider packet, credentials, and Legacy Run items. During check-in, Riders will also have their motorcycles inspected by the Legacy Run leadership team to help ensure safety, readiness and compliance with ride expectations.

A mandatory all-riders meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. the same day, covering daily procedures, safety points, formations, fuel and meal flow and ride expectations.

Those who wish to register to support the Legacy Run remotely will receive a full check-in packet by mail, identical to the packet riders receive upon check-in. This packet will be sent after the national convention.

Through VCF funding, the Legion’s Temporary Financial Assistance grants feed and house children of military personnel and veterans facing urgent, unexpected hardships. These grants prevent eviction, keep the power on and fulfill basic needs to hold a family together through difficult times.

The VCF also covers training and accreditation costs for American Legion claims experts who provide free representation for veterans and families applying for disability benefits, survivor assistance, GI Bill opportunities and more.

As additional details about the 2026 Legacy Run become available, they will be shared here and on the National American Legion Riders Facebook page.

Those who plan on participating in the Legacy Run and ride a Harley-Davidson are encouraged to sign up for the 2026 Let’s Ride Challenge™ – Ride for Heroes as soon as possible. As a statement of gratitude, Harley-Davidson is donating $1 million among nine veteran riding groups – including the American Legion Riders – and is asking riders to log their miles with authorized Harley-Davidson® dealerships. The more miles logged by Legion Riders and their supporters, the larger the donation.
