Accredited American Legion service officers help veterans obtain a record $25.8 billion in disability benefits in Fiscal Year 2026.

Accredited American Legion service officers secured a record $25,845,891,995 in disability benefits for veterans in Fiscal Year 2026, according to new data. That total beat the previous record of $23,289,379,651, set the previous fiscal year.

The 2026 total brings the amount of disability benefits achieved for veterans using accredited American Legion service officers to $134.5 billion since 2020.

American Legion service officers assist any veterans in the VA claims process at no charge. They finished off the fiscal year strong, securing $2,230,085,597 for veterans in September.

The awards include disability compensation, pensions (to include death/survivor pensions), dependency and indemnity compensation and spina bifida benefits. They do not include education and veteran-readiness benefit programs.

Training for American Legion service officers is made possible through donations to The American Legion Veterans & Children Foundation.
