The Sons of The American Legion will hear from committees and elect a new national commander this weekend.
The 54th National Convention of the Sons of The American Legion (SAL) will take place Aug. 28-30 at the Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC) in Louisville, Ky.
The event will include SAL training on communications/public speaking; squadron/post relationships; resolutions; and effective networking on Friday morning, along with national convention committee meetings.
SAL National Convention general sessions will take place at 1 p.m. Aug. 28; 9 a.m. Aug. 29; and 8 a.m. Aug. 30. The Sunday general session will include election of the next SAL national commander and national vice commanders.
Registration for delegates, alternate delegates and guests will take place in the national staff officies in Hall A, Upper Concourse, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 26-28 and 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 29.
A children & youth academy for school-age American Legion Family members will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 29, which will include flag etiquette, a flag retirement ceremony and history of the United States.
