American Legion leadership will gather in Indianapolis May 5-10; Legion Family members will create quilts for wounded warriors.

Members of The American Legion's National Executive Committee (NEC), along with Legion commission and committee members, will convene in Indianapolis for the organization's annual Spring Meetings.

Members of the various commissions and committees will meet at the Sheraton City Centre Hotel in downtown Indianapolis May 5-8 to prepare reports that will be delivered to the NEC. The NEC will meet May 9-10 in the NEC Room at National Headquarters to review the reports and vote on resolutions.

American Legion National Commander Denise H. Rohan will address the NEC on May 9 at 9 a.m., which will be streamed live on the Legion's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/americanlegionhq. Also on May 9, Dr. Brian Hancock, director of the Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, will accept the Legion's Operation Comfort Warriors grant of $50,000 on behalf of the VA nationally. The grant is helping to supply new baby welcome kits to more than 2,400 women veterans at 58 VA medical centers across the country.

During Spring Meetings, the 2018 American Legion Legacy Scholarship recipients also will be announced, as well as the 2018 Eagle Scout of the Year.

A Quilts of Valor Day of Service is also scheduled in conjunction with Spring Meetings. The day of service will take place May 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Sheraton's Circle Suites, Lower Lobby.

Quilts of Valor (QOV) is a nationally recognized program whose mission is "to cover" all those servicemembers touched by war with healing and comforting quilts called Quilts of Valor. These quilts are tangible reminders of appreciation and gratitude. QOV is a national grassroots community service effort, connecting the home front with wounded combat warriors and veterans. Quilts of Valor are stitched with love, prayers, and healing thoughts.

Emblem Sales will have a room with merchandise for sale in the Lower Lobby of the Sheraton. The room will be opened Saturday, May 5 from 7 a.m.-noon; Sunday, 1-6 p.m; Monday, 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, 7 a.m.-noon.
