Justin Sheffield describes his experiences as a SEAL, his post-service depression and his nonprofit that helps struggling veterans.

A retired Navy SEAL Team Six senior chief joins The American Legion’s Tango Alpha Lima podcast this week for a riveting interview about his experiences.

Co-hosts Jeff Daly and Ashley Gorbulja-Maldonado interview Justin Sheffield, who served multiple combat tours of duty in Afghanistan at the highest levels, reporting directly to the Secretary of Defense. Sheffield discusses his experience as a Navy SEAL Team Six member including shielding a hostage during a rescue in Somalia. “Everybody is kind of out to die for someone they don’t know,” he says of his fellow team members.

Sheffield also describes the depression he fell into after leaving the service, recalling when he would be “looking forward to suicide.”

Now, Justin works daily to assist his fellow veterans with their rehabilitation efforts through his All Eagles Oscar nonprofit.
