The American Legion has donated 10 GPS units to the National Naval Medical Center and Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. The devices will be available at the Naval Center’s Warrior Regiment Unit and Walter Reed’s Soldier Family Assistance Center. There, families who are visiting servicemembers at the facilities can sign a GPS out and use it to navigate the D.C. area.
Families return the devices to the facilities when they leave town so they can be used by other people who are visiting patients. The GPS units fill an important need, as visitors often aren’t from the surrounding area and have trouble navigating their way through the nation’s capital.
