The national America250 organization has teamed up with Points of Light to promote volunteerism nationwide as July 4, 2026, draws closer. “America Gives” “challenges businesses, nonprofits, schools, youth groups, faith-based networks and organizations of all kinds to commit to increasing their level of volunteering and impact starting on Jan 1, 2026,” according to the initiative’s website.
These community service activities could be incorporated into participants’ progress on the American Legion USA 250 Challenge, which also runs through July 4.
By National Executive Committee resolution, American Legion departments and posts are encouraged to connect with their state and local America250 commissions. An online directory is available to contact these commissions here. Share your stories of involvement on Legiontown.
