Made to celebrate and educate: American Legion Family youth programs

Posts urged to make connections with young people and drive participation heading into the 250th anniversary.

American Legion Family,

This is an exciting time to be an American.

American Legion Family youth programs – from the American Legion Oratorical Contest that teaches constitutional fluency to Star Spangled Kids of the American Legion Auxiliary – have been instilling pride among young people for generations.

Now that America’s 250th birthday is nearly upon us, there’s no better opportunity to “celebrate and educate” in honor of the freedoms we enjoy in the nation we swore with our lives to defend than to promote those programs like never before.

To help American Legion Family posts and units make connections with young people, educators and youth leaders, a new poster has been designed by National Headquarters that highlight some of the major programs The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary offer to build pride and understanding of the United States.

It can be downloaded and printed from here, free of charge.

The poster highlights American Legion Family youth programs for all ages, as well as popular comic books, the INDIVISIBLE bookazine about our flag and “Rise of Our Flag,” a graphic novel treatment that shows why veterans care deeply about the colors of our country.

As chairman of the national American Legion Ad Hoc Committee on the 250th  Anniversary of America, I urge you to print some of these posters and deliver them to your schools, churches and Scout units. Ask that they be posted in teachers lounges, cafeterias, guidance offices and on bulletin boards.

Visit Emblem Sales anytime to buy comic books and other publications, order decals, stick flags or other affordable items to share with young people who need to know – especially now – why The American Legion Family wants to educate and celebrate in 2026.
