Roosevelt Presidential Library grand opening to be livestreamed

National commander, department commander to raise the U.S. flag on July 4 to kick off dedication ceremonies.

American Legion National Commander Dan K. Wiley and American Legion Department of North Dakota Commander Jason Anderson are scheduled to raise the U.S. flag to kick off the July 4 dedication ceremony of the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Medora, N.D.

The grand opening ceremony on the nation’s 250th birthday will be streamed live on the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library website, as will other events to commemorate the official opening of the privately funded 96,000-square-foot complex at the edge of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

The livestreaming schedule for grand-opening events:

July 2 (9 a.m. Mountain Time) and July 3 (10 a.m. Mountain Time):Campfire and Prairie Talks” from the library auditorium, in which invited speakers, partners, public leaders, authors and friends of the library will discuss leadership, conservation, civic life, public service, history, business and the enduring relevance of the 26th U.S. president’s legacy.

July 4 (10 a.m. Mountain Time): “Live from the Badlands – Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library Grand Opening” promises “a dedication ceremony as bold and unforgettable as the leader it honors: riders on horseback crossing a dramatic landscape, the crack of a ceremonial mark to commemorate the moment, and the thunder of patriotic celebration echoing across the horizon.” Music, a Rough Riders cavalry charge, flag raising, speakers and a flyover are featured.

July 4 (8 p.m. Mountain Time): “Eyes on the Stars: Theodore Roosevelt and the West – Drone Show Live from the Badlands” will turn the night sky into a canvas when a fleet of drones creates a “moving portrait of Theodore Roosevelt, the American West and the country he helped conserve – storytelling drawn in light above the buttes.”
