American Legion posts and squadrons can use these items to support their plans to engage in the USA 250 Challenge for Veterans Day, year-end community service projects and more.

Now is an excellent time to fine-tune plans for your post or squadron’s USA 250 Challenge events for Veterans Day, around the year-end holidays or early in 2026.

In fact, the projects many American Legion posts conduct around Thanksgiving and Christmas are ideal for completing the community service challenge. The American Legion’s USA 250 Challenge offers participants three challenge categories — community service, physical activities and mental health awareness — as a way to celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday.

To support these efforts, National Headquarters has created various materials that posts and participants may use. Among them:

• A flyer with a QR code designed to raise awareness and encourage others to join the challenge.

• An easy how-to video that explains the process for tracking miles, hours or other measurables.

• Frequently asked questions.

• Ideas on ways to complete the challenge categories.

• Sample press releases, a sample speech and more information.

In addition to celebrating America, proceeds from the $30 registration fee and all donations go to the Legion’s Veterans & Children Foundation, which supports disabled veterans and military families in need.
